Citydash > FAQ
How does this work?
50-100 players meet up in a pub and our crew help you get into teams, pick up your map, and pin on your player IDs. Then we'll lead you into the game zone for a briefing, and blow the whistle to send you all off at once.
Now you've got an hour to score as many points as you can. Find checkpoints by looking at our web app on your phone to see the latest hints, get there, and look for the hidden code. Enter that to update the scoreboard.
But at the same time, watch out for our patrolling guards. They don't need to catch you - they only need to see you, so you'd better hope that someone on your team is keeping a lookout!
After an hour we all head back to the pub to swap stories, award prizes and have a well-earned beer.
How much running is there?
As much as you want; we've deliberately designed this so that stealth, cunning, good teamwork and solid map-reading are important as well as raw speed. We have a wide range of players, so you'll have a team or two to compete with no matter how seriously - or not - you're taking it. You'll want to be comfortable with at least walking fast for an hour, though!
What do I need to bring?
Decent shoes and at least one smartphone per team. We can look after your bag if you need.
Are kids allowed?
Sure, as long as they're in a team with an adult who's taking responsibility for them! We've had kids as young as 8 play, and 11-13 is quite common. We play in public spaces that aren't entirely traffic-free, and we don't supervise them at all, so do use your judgment.
Who are you guys?
We're Fire Hazard, one of the UK's leading street games outfits, and we've been running, screaming, evading and escaping since 2008. We're the team behind the original burglary experience Heist, and have appeared in the Guardian (a couple of times), Time Out, and stacks of other places.
Who's on my team?
You can set up your team once you've bought tickets. One person can buy them all, or you can buy them individually and add yourself to the team. We suggest 2-4 people on a team, and you'll stay together throughout the game. Or feel free to show up by yourself and we'll set you up in a scratch team with others. We're a friendly mob and sometimes the scratch teams win!
Is this hard? Scary? Serious?
Hell no! We're in this for the thrill of the chase.. our prizes are often chocolate, and a guard who spots you trying to hide is more likely to burst out laughing than be seriously intimidating.
Having said that, if you want to run hard, we're more than willing to oblige you, and there's often a good-natured but tense battle for the top place on the scoreboard.
I have a big group..
Great! A full Citydash game is 100 players, so we can probably accommodate you in a public game. If you've got more than 30 players, we can also do a custom game at a time and place to suit you - just drop us a line.
Is this accessible?
Citydash is the least accessible of our games, unfortunately. Some of the checkpoint locations require reaching, crouching, or narrow spaces, and the gameplay involves covering a lot of ground, quickly, on often uneven footpaths. Our other two games, Raiders and Undercover, are much better at this.
I have other questions!
